Upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) or “the common cold” is a symptom complex usually caused by several families of viruses; these are the rhinovirus, coronavirus, parainfluenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), adenovirus, human metapneumovirus, and influenza.
